Crypto Currency Scams

Huge Increase in Cybercrime

Since 2021, the UK has seen a massive increase in cybercrime, resulting in thousands of people losing their money in Crypto Scams.

Cryptocurrency's huge presence online has lured many people into scams perpetrated by unregulated fake brokers and companies who exploit people's desire to enter the market and take advantage of significant returns on investment.

Online adverts, Social Media Marketing, Messages, and cold calls lead to highly sophisticated scams run by criminal organisations worldwide. The scammers, who sound professional and authentic, befriend victims, build trust, and then entice them in with slick websites, investment platforms, and promises of huge returns on investment. However, more often than not, these promises are too good to be true.

Lost Money in a Crypto Scam?

Many of these scams operate like pyramid schemes, where new investors are initially paid significant returns from other investors' money to entice them to invest even more. When the client asks for their original investment to be repaid or wants to take a large withdrawal, the company's communication goes cold, and the scam reveals itself.

Crypto scams often last months and even years. Salespeople form relationships with their victims and do their best to encourage them to 'make the most' of 'special deals', with the objective of taking as much money off their victims as possible. Most of these scam companies operate outside the UK in countries where they can operate with impunity.
